The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the Arjuna Award to a number of celebrities on Tuesday at Rashtrapati Bhawan, including wrestler Antim Panghal, bowler Mohammed Shami, and archers Ojas Pravin Deotale, Sheetal Devi, and Aditi Gopichand Swami.

Mohammed Shami happily walks after receiving the Arjuna Award, India’s second-highest athletic honor, for leadership, sportsmanship, and discipline alongside excellent performance over the past four years.

The Arjuna Award was received by star speedster Shami, who broke records and finished as the top wicket-taker with 24 scalps in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India, alongside other standout athletes.

“This award is a pipe dream; people pass away and this prize is unachievable. That I am a nominee for this award makes me happy.

Throughout my life,” Mohammed Shami told ANI, expressing joy.

His contributions were lauded by teammates, opponents, and fans worldwide, earning him widespread acclaim and admiration.

Shami’s journey from promising talent to revered figure in Indian cricket is remarkable. Despite accolades, he stays grounded, driven to inspire the next generation.
